Maine General Medical Center implemented universal decolonization using Hibiclens skin cleanser to standardize the bathing process, decrease routine contact precautions costs, and free staff time for direct patient care.  Hospital spend for gowns lowered 49.9% from $226,727.68 to $113,445.12 in one year, a savings of $113,282.56. In addition, there was a 50% decrease in CLABSI and no transmission increase in MRSA or VRE.
